  • This is absolutely great software. The interface is simple, clean and efficient. And the functionality is excellent. The PGP support could be better, but the basic mail capabilities rock and it's easy to manage multiple accounts.
  • I am using pine / alpine / re-alpine for more than ten years now, and consider it one of the essential no-nonsense tools in the UNIX world.
  • Recently the gmail web interface has become very slow and bloated. I compiled the most recent version of re-alpine, and find that it works very well with gmail (a few years ago it did not work well). One can work through hundreds of emails much more quickly and efficiently with re-alpine than with gmail web interface. I also find gcalcli is a nice terminal interface for google calendar that is fast and reliable. Mutt is a real pain to setup on multiple computers, while alpine is very easy and one can easily mirror the setup files on several machines, and I am happily back to dealing with the deluge of email.
