I did a few quick tests and created a rar with the current linux rar on my system (rar 3.8.0) and the gpl unrar program will NOT extract it even when given the correct password.

Also, rarcrack is using a command line to test that is different from what the gpl unrar program supports, which could be why it doesn't find the password.

Interestingly enough, crark DID find the correct password on my test rar, but as it is not open source I don't know how it works exactly.
It appears that it has the unrar function built in.

    From the site (crark.net):
    7. I'd like to optimize your program. How can I get the sources?
You don't need them. Take UnRar sources and optimize the SetCryptKeys() function. Next contact me

    For the Hellboy poster:

I have seen that behavior with files that have an unencrypted file and encrypted file in them.
Such as mystuff.rar that has a mystuff directory in it that is unencrypted, and then myfile1, myfile2, etc. files that are encrypted in the mystuff directory.

I guess that be a situation to check for.
