I am not sure if this isn't actually more of a routing and network interfaces issue. Are you sure jSLP uses the correct IP addresses for communication? Often, it will end up doing discovery on loopback if the host address cannot be determined, or on the wan port rather than the lan ports. On some embedded devices, I also had the problem that they start up with no default route set in the routing table.
