  • qstripper Initial Source Release file released: qStripperSourceRelease.zip

----------------------------------------------------------- Bugs fixd in *THIS* release : ----------------------------------------------------------- XML output now supports the full iso-latin-1 character set. This has changed from the previous utf-8 character set that was used. The output file was not in utf-8 format - it was in iso-latin-1. Oops. XML output now correctly handles the Euro symbol. In Internet Explorer 5.5 (and 6?) the euro shows as a box character. Firefox happily displays it as a Euro symbol. I suspect that the default character set for IE is 'broken'. XML output now has the DOCTYPE details commented out. This is because IE5.5 and IE6 try to access the internet to pull down the DocBook.dtd file to validate the XML, however, IE cannot read the dtd file (it says that there is an error in it !) so it barfs and says that the dtd cannot be found. Firefox has no problems with it. The above commenting out make IE stop looking for the dtd and allows it to display the XML file as is. You need to un-comment it if you intend editing the xml file in something like XMLSpy or XML Mind XXE editors as they need the DOCTYPE. ----------------------------------------------------------- Bugs fixed in Previous releases : (Most recent first) ----------------------------------------------------------- I've fixed the conversion from QDOS to Windows character sets. The Windows character set is a bit of an extension to ISO-8859-1 and is really WINDOWS-1252. This is defined by having CHR$(128) = the Euro symbol, the real ISO-8859 has control codes at CHR$(128) and so on. Bleeding Microsoft ! BEWARE, however, the EURO symbol cannot be displayed in Notepad if you don't use a font that allows it. Pretty obvious, but I spent ages wondering why I *still* wasn't getting it displayed correctly. (I use the COURIER font - I should be using COURIER NEW instead.) ----------------------------------------------------------- Ok, the exporting works better now. If you pick a filename it is re-used on subsequent exports. The default for a first time export is the loaded file with the doc dropped and an appropriate extension added. The default extension is now added whenever there isn't one. That was not fixed *properly* in the previous release :o( ----------------------------------------------------------- Exporting a file didn't offer a default extension. (Dilwyn Jones). Exporting a file defaulted to the startup folder and not where the file was loaded from. (Dilwyn & Marcel Kilgus). Fixed sub and superscript handling. The default font was way too small and was grey. (Dilwyn). -----------------------------------------------------------
