A Python Shell has been constructed from Qt, QScintilla and the Python C API directly, which features syntax highlighting and simple code completion via a Qt GUI. It is hoped that a Qt Widget can be constructed from it eventually.

iPython (http://ipython.scipy.org/moin/) is probably the most sophisticated Python shell available, but has a console interface. The new version is supposedly easily embeddable. One can find wxWindows version on their site. A shell will be developed based on Qt, QScintilla and the C API using iPython in the coming months. Cheers Shakes

The project has recently been approved and the files will be provided very soon. This includes a fully working Python Shell using Qt and Scintilla.
