"Quick and Dirty Line Operating Software" is a line-oriented editor for Windows. It's my answer to ED/EDLIN and also my offense to the Micro$hift Empire. It's for such freaks who still use line-oriented editors and always wanted one for Windows.

I know that nobody reads this, anyway I want to inform about the future plans of QDLOS. As you may have seen, there wasn't very much done since the last release in 2003. That's because I'm at the point to say that the current Visual Basic Version of QDLOS is not ideal for adding new features. To be honestly: It's dirty written, extremely slow and the sourcecode is quite uncompatible with any other Basic dialect than VB. Because this and the fact that I now want to change my OS from Windoze to OS/2, I decided to stop the development of QDLOS in Visual Basic. That's why I made the new release 1.77. Version 1.64 was very experimental and buggy. So I wanted to make a stable version because there will be no usable release next time. (view the Change Log, I can just advert anybody to use v1.77 instead of v1.64) But I don't want to stop development forever. I'll try to begin a new version for OS/2. The only problem is that I don't know in which language I'll write it. I don't have very much OS/2 Basic compilers. So it will be maybe written for Windows 3.x, but that's not clear at this point. But if there will be a new release, I've got big plans for it. I'll update the homepage next time for more information. mrg Robin Haberkorn
Version 1.77: This version should be mainly a bugfix version, but it got some nice new features: * New way to find out what's a number during syntax highlighting: the length of numbers isn't still limited. * Syntax highlighting files are revised; "Assembler x86" is the only one which is still "experimental". * There's one new syntax highlighting file: Perl. (thanks to deirdre skye - http://proton-ce.sourceforge.net/ - for the information) * If a file is opened, first saved or saved as - the start directory of the Open/Save-box is set to the directory of the file which was opened. * If you choosed automatic syntax highlighting, a highlighting file will be loaded even if you save a file first or save as. * The documents array is now set dynamically! Now, there isn't still a limit of 1000000 lines. The largest index of the array will be increased or decreased if needed. * I solved the problem with the work directory of QDLOS, you know, if you opened a file with QDLOS before (using a Windoze link or per drag & drop and so on), Windoze set the working directory of QDLOS to the directory of the file which is opened. Now, QDLOS uses the directory where the QDLOS.EXE is placed. * Now Open/Save boxes have got an "All files (*.*)" filter instead of only "*.*". * The Infobox- and the Margin-Settingsform are now showed "modal", that means you have to close them to get control over * Now, most of the settings you did with the standard printer dialog will be applied if you print something. QDLOS again. fixed bugs: * Problem with syntax-highlighting removed, it now works without any problems. * A bug of the insert-command is removed: Before, it cut up the last line if you insert text to a position where the last line was before, or in a similar way. It's very confusing. ;-) * Other problems regarding the new way to handle the documents array removed. I set some more limitations of commands which caused errors in previous versions. * Margins-settings-Dialog: Now your input is tested if it makes sense.
Hello, the new QDLOS Version 1.64 uses the rich textbox. So I've put the needed .ocx file in a new QDLOS_DLL Release. Please download it if you want to use the new QDLOS Version. mrg Robin Haberkorn
