  • pyRadar v0.4 and v0.4-bc are available for download

0.4 is updated to use NOAA's ftp server, for file downloads. This is instead of the old method of scraping NOAA's website for the files that no longer works due to changes on NOAA's web site. In addition to the new data source, duplicate radar images should no longer be added to the loop if there is not an update to the radar image during pyRadar's update cycle. Also, any new radar images that would normally be missed due to a long update cycle on the client side or an update of < 5 min. on the server side will now be included in the normal update. This will insure that the loop contains the 10 latest images published by NOAA.

  • pyRadar - Linux pyRadar v0.4 file released: pyRadar-0.4.tar.gz

CHANGE LOG: pyRadar v0.4 Updated to cope with changes to weather.noaa.gov - ftp is now used to retrieve the radar images. No new radar image will be downloaded if the last downloaded image is the same as the latest image available from the radar station. This will save both bandwidth and prevent duplicate images in the loop. The loop will now always have the 10 latest radar images, even if there are multiple updates between pyRadar's update cycles. (This is based on image availability from NOAA, if there is a frame missing on NOAA's ftp server it will be missing in the loop too.) pyRadar v0.3.1 Fixed a bug related to adding new frames to the loop. New frames were not being added properly. pyRadar v0.3 Looping now loads the last 10 radar images as soon as looping is enabled. Showing a full loop almost instantaneously. The loop has been increased to 10 frames from the previous 4 frames Loop speed has been increased to 1 second a frame Last settings file format changed for compatibility between -bc and standard branches Fixed an error in -bc branch that prevented the last config from being saved pyRadar v0.2 Created -bc branch of pyRadar code for backwards compatibility with older Python/pyGTK+ versions. If you are having trouble running pyRadar please try the pyRadar-0.2-bc release. Corrected error where ~/.pyradar/NOAA-Stations.csv was overwritten on each launch of pyRadar. This allows users to create custom station files by removing unwanted entries from the file. Added ability to install pyRadar wherever the user likes Removed windows development code from stable Linux codebase. pyRadar v0.1 This is the first release of pyRadar, a Python 2.4/pyGTK 2.0 program that retrieves and displays NOAA NEXRAD radar images.
