Hi, I just noticed that our "mutation decreased strength / rate" terms are wrongly mispelled and written as "mutation deceased strength / rate". I guess we should correct this before people start sending their condolences... Pablo.

Hi John, I tried to email you a warning this was coming, but here is the official request. I'd like several new Psi-MOD IDs to represent crosslinking between collagen molecules that occurs when lysine or hydroxylysine residues are modified to the aldehyde form by Lysyl oxidase. This is best explained in this paper - PMID:9883973 Figs 4, 6 and 7. In summary Allysine can spontaneously interact...

This is, presumably, only for protein-lipid interactions as cosedimentation of two proteins togeter with liposomes not always demonstrate the proteins interact with each other ?.

This could be either a child or sibling of 'mass spectrometry studies of complexes' (MI:0069). Setting it up a child will be probably better provided MI:0069 is made more generic by modifying its definitio to read 'Mass spectrometric approaches to the study of BIOLOGICAL COMPLEXES... ' instead of '... protein in complexes'.

IM-MS analysis is performed by first ionizing the protein complex of interest followed by ion mobility separation according to their crossection-to-charge (Q/z) ratio. After separation, ions are sampled by a mass spectrometer and analyzed according to their mass-to-charge (m/z) ratio. Combined knowledge of both Q/z and m/z can be used to infer the size and shape of the complexes, see...

Mass spectroscopy based measurement of the rate and/or extent of the exchange of complex subunits. See, for example PMID: 20351246.

A prolyl isomerase is an enzyme that catalyzes conversion between cis- and trans- peptide bonds formed by the amine group of a proline. See, for example, PMID:16554819.

The interaction is inferred from the effects of one of the interacting partners on the thermal melting curve of the other See, for example, PMID:21478866 (protein-protein interactions) and PMID:11788061 (protein-small molecule interactions) Alternate name: 'thermshift binding assay'.

SILAC (Stable Isotope Labeling by Amino acids in Cell culture) can be used to detect features (typically PTMs) required for a given interaction - see, for example PMID: 2223140 The method is different then mass detection of residue modification (ID: MI:0068) as the modified protein is not the one subjected to MS; rather, SILAC methodology is used to compare the effect of PTM...
