ProviderFactory is an assembly for the .NET framework that provides a layer of abstraction for ADO.NET data providers. This allows .NET programs to access databases in a uniform way, so that any ADO.NET data provider can be used without code changes.

ProviderFactory v1.0 has been released to the public. ProviderFactory is an assembly for the .NET framework that provides a layer of abstraction for ADO.NET data providers. This allows programs to be developed in a way that allows for transparent database access to different ADO.NET data providers without having to change code or recompile. ProviderFactory was originally contributed to the Mono project by Brian Ritchie. Classless.net then pulled those classes into an assembly that .NET programs can use. No code changes have been made, nor are any planned. Classless.net mearly packaged these classes into a tool that can be used outside of Mono. We will, though, update the classes as they are updated within the Mono project. Documentation has also been added/created for these classes. See http://providerfactory.sourceforge.net for more information.
