  • Followup: RE: How Do I Get Started With PP3?

Thank You Fabien for your quick reply. I will endeavour to follow your steps and see what happens & report back. This might be in a couple of days. It looks like I have a steep learning-curve to climb here! Art.

HI, There are html docs that you could read in the folder manual that will explain what to do, but here is an abstract (ckeck in the doc if it does not work) : - open a dos command shell, Start / Run type cmd - move to your directory where you installed pp3 : cd C:\program Files\PP3 - create the needed environment variable required by pp3 to run : set PP3DATA=C:\program Files\PP3 - open...

  • How Do I Get Started With PP3?

Hello Folks, First post - "noob" question (!) I have downloaded PP3, MikTex, Ghostscript and GSView. here's the question. How do I get it to work? PC is laptop running Windows XP Home SP3. Ghostscript has installed a folder C:\Program Files\Ghostscript which contains an application "uninstgs" and a folder called gs8.64. GSView has installed a folder...

  • New project, based on PP3?

Hi, I'd like to thank the author for PP3. I like it, I use it, I think I will print my own Atlas to use at night (black & white) to help me observe. But I will also create my own Desktop Atlas with nice colours many more informations. In fact, I already have several Atlas, the very good job done by Toshimi Taki (http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~zs3t-tk/index.htm) is very usable and comes in...

Hi all, I installed it on Windows yesterday evening, not for the rooky user but it is possible. Install PP3, (dont forget to set PP3DATA as noted in the doc),, install Ghotscript, install ghostview, install TEX soft like MikTEX, run it, MIKTEX need 2 or 3 more pakages but will download them by his own. And it works In fact, I didn't find any soft that could do the same job, but I agree...

  • Followup: RE: LaTeX Error: File 'pst-text.sty not found

If you install MiKTEXT (I ran it on Windows) PStricks is installed but pst-text is not but will install on the fly when you will run pp3, if you have a responding repository on your net connection. There is 2 or 3 needed packages but I don't remember them. Hope this help. Fabien.

I don't have PStricks installed. I installed PP3, gsview and Ghostviewer. When I run pp3 swan.pp3 in console, the output was fast stream of messages, that stopped with the message I mentioned. Ante http://deepskypedia.com.

This file is part of the PSTricks package. Do you really have PSTricks installed? After having installed new LaTeX packages, you have to re-build MiKTeX's file index. You have to convert the EPS to PNG with another program, e.g. with GIMP. Gsview is freeware, but not Free Software. But since I don't use it, I can't tell you more. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSView#Frontends.

If I might add my 2 cents :)... This isn't ment to work under Windows, but it works. If I didn't have big personal projekt (http://deepskypedia.com), I would never even try to install this, because, I froze when I saw that I need to install 3 more programs. I'm spooiled with plug-n-play stuff. ;) But I had to go for it, cause I know it's worth it (this is *great* stuff), and I have no...
