First, thanks for building support for Powermate's. I had been searching quite a while before I found any info in getting this to work in anything but ancient kernels!
I managed to get everything running on FC3 using the
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Griffin_PowerMate_with_UDEV_and_Kernel_2.6.x guide. It took updating/installing quite a few packages before I realized I could turn off support for the things it complained about being missing (xmms, beep, xosd, etc) but now I have a minimal build. For my purposes, all I need to do is monitor the window "mythfrontend". So far, it works, but there are a couple of issues:
1. Waaaay too fast. I mapped left turn to left arrow key, right turn to right arrow key, and clicked to Return. I tried SetDelay from 2 to 20000 (well, not all of them!) and it still moves the control focus way too fast unless I barely tap a direction.
2. I can't find any docs on the SendKey function. After many tries, I finally figured out Return (I first tried Enter with different caps, then Ctrl-m to no effect). I have yet to figure out Escape (tried Esc, ESC and Escape). I want to have Escape mapped to pressed+left.
Despite these small issues, I am still tickled pink to see the Powermate do anything at all with MythTV. I spent a bundle getting a case config using this device, and when I decided Windows PVRs were crap and went to Linux, I had despaired of ever getting any use out of the Powermate. Here's a link to the box, in case you are interested:

No, you really can't see the Led's in the base, but then in a dark room, it could be distracting anyway (as if that CF display isn't).
