After many years of dealing with Windows problems (registry, add/remove software etc.) i found the Portableapps web site. Now I use them exclusively. The only software that I install on any Windows PC is an antivirus package. The rest are portable. I can carry the directories on a USB drive and take them anywhere. Been a real drudge saver.

New to the Open Source world. LOVING the Open Source world! Inexperienced user, but I have to say, after a few tests, most of the Portable versions of the apps available work even BETTER than their 'installer' versions. VLC Player in particular works MUCH better as portable - handles HD video files MUCH better, accesses the timeline ASTONISHINGLY well with virtually no lag. Like someone else has said, only 'problem' now is buying a big USB stick! I think if they develop UNIX/LINUX Portable, Micro$oft and Apple will be VERY worried.. which can only be a good thing for us end users! GET THIS NOW!
