PortaBase uses a patched version of the Metakit library to support more sorting options; see the INSTALL file that comes with the PortaBase source code for details on how to apply the patch and build against the patched library.
I'll try to release an updated version of the source soon that builds against the latest version of Qt and bundles an already patched version of Metakit.

This is getting much more feasible with the impending release of a port of Qt (the cross-platform C++ library heavily utilized by PortaBase) for Symbian S60. A technology preview is already available (under a somewhat restricted license), with a full open source release expected in mid-2009 (i.e., real soon now).

I love portabase and use it all the time on my Zaurus
C3200. Could you guys port the Application to OSX? That
