HP1940 iPAQ Problem

    I've created a folder called .freesci in the root directory of my device. I've added the config file and bitmap images to the folder. I edited the config file in UNIX to avoid the file format problem. The program loads successfully, but it doesn't find any of the games I've placed on disk (the main window selection list is empty). Specifically, I placed Space Quest 3 in a folder called games in root directory of my device. The config entry for the game portion of my config file is as follow.

    #[Space_Quest_III]
    #resource_dir = \games
    #version = 0.000.453

    I’m using an HP1940 iPAQ device. Let me know if you need additional system information. Any idea what the problem might be?
    Also, the site I downloaded from advertised that the software played Space Quest 4. I understand that Space Quest 4 is an SCI1 game, which might not be supported by your software (according to a post in a previous forum message). Was the site I downloaded from misinformed?

    You have to remove the '#'
    in front of your lines, so it should read:

    [Space_Quest_III]
    resource_dir = \games
    version = 0.000.453

    Please check if your games' original interpreter version is really 0.000.453 (you may check this opening the games' original .exe and search for '000'.

    Could you please tell me which site you've download it from?

    It is right that the FreeSCI stable tree is currently only able to play SCI0 games, but there's a unstable branch in development, which will make SCI1 games possible. As soon this branch called 'glutton' will be stable, you'll be also able to play all SCI1 games.

    Duh! I forgot to remove the comments from the config file. Whoops! Works great. Space Quest 4 doesn't work though. Is there going to be future support for SCI01?

    Great job with the port! I'll keep my eyes open for glutton! The site I linked from was pdagold.com. The link to the page with the misinformed description is

    http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=495

    Read the description at the bottom of the page.

    Hmm, seems they just took the description on SCI on my page, and did not recognize that there's a difference between SCI and FreeSCI :)

    Hi! I put up the wrong info on PDAgold.com, sorry. Can you point me to a list of games compatible with this Pocket PC version?

    Hi, I'm having the same probs, freesci loads ok but there are no games in the list. copied the games to storage card and the config file is on the root of the device under .freesci
    config is

    [Space_Quest_III]
    resource_dir = \storage card\games
    version = 0.000.453

    tried encapsulating the path in "" but that made no diffrence, any ideas? or do the games have to be in the root as well?
    Thanks.
    T
