How to prevent spim?

Occasionally I get spim, stuff like "bunny82578" who says "hi cuty, let's chat! ...Oh well I guess you're not there" and I can only quiver in helpless rage as I add yet another spim sender to my blocked list.

The question is, how are these things getting through? I already block everybody but my specific buddies, supposedly, but these bots seem to be able to get through just fine, at least with Yahoo.

Can this feature be added to Gaim? It seems to me it shouldn't be a big deal to have gaim look at my list of buddies before allowing an incoming message. The data's all there in the xml file. Am I missing some configuration setting?
