  • This was not able to do the one thing which I needed it to be able to do, which was create an HTML document that preserves the PDF's original forms.
  • to install on macos, you can use "brew" 1) install xpdf: "brew install homebrew/x11/xpdf" 2) install pdftohtml: "brew install pdftohtml" to install on ubuntu/linux 1) apt-get install poppler-utils
  • The first and easiest way for pdf to html converter online is to use the page on pdfcoding.com
  • Doesn't work with PDF 1.6 file
  • No instructions, no read me, doesn't execute.
  • Make sure you use the -c (complicated document) if you want anything approaching the original PDF layout. It does a pretty good job with fonts, colors and placement. Not so good with slanted text boxes, though. I'd blame it on browser compatibly issues. (maybe) It compiled easily, and works without hiccup. It makes a separate file for each page, and generates appropriate frames and indexes -- very workmanlike. DIVs, however are given inline styling, and no class. CSS vertical alignment should be specified as vertical-align rather than virtical-align. Still, this is the software you want when you want to teach old PDF's some new HTML tricks. BTW, the rest of the reviews seem to be written by ditto-heads. This software is actually deserves better than that kind of marketing.
  • Fantastic software. It isn't perfect but what is? This gets as close to the original as it's going to get, and making small modifications is a lot easier than copy pasting the entire thing by hand. Exactly what I was looking for!
  • Great software, thank you.

  • The idea is very good but... when i try to compile in my ubuntu 10.04 server it cast me this error: "deprecated conversion from constant to 'char*' ". How to solve ? edit: ok, i try to convert a pdf by pdftohtml command and it works anyway. Great work :)
  • hey, I have a problem, I have w7 home premium on my computer and I can't install it at all... it won't run the app.. Can anyone help me?
  • Great application. I use it to rewrite a data PDF into XML so that it can be loaded into a database. Sometimes it will not read the PDF and reports that the PDF is damaged (attempting to reconstruct xref table. Couldn't find trailer dictionary. Couldn't read xref table) but I found that if I open it (I use nitropdf because its cheap) and save it back to disk that pdftohtml will then work properly.
  • This little app worked like a champ. I was able to parse pdf files of more than 1000 pages into an xml document and into my database in minutes.
