Free editor for PDF documents. Complete editing of PDF documents is possible with PDFedit. You can change raw pdf objects (for advanced users) or use many gui functions. Functionality can be easily extended using a scripting language (ECMAScript).
For use on Windows: 1. Install cygwin from http://www.cygwin.com/. During setup you will be asked to Select Packages. Expand the X11 category then scroll towards the end and select packages qt3 and xinit. 2) Copy the PDFedit files to the directory C:\cygwin\usr\local or where you installed cygwin. Go to your Windows start menu and take the new entry cygwin-x. Use this to start the x-windows server. From the command line on the server window, type pdfedit and hit enter. Your working directory where you can place pdfs will be C:\cygwin\home\YOURNAME.
very good
Thanks to developers
Does its job fine.
Really good project. Does a lot of things.
horrible stability (in Jaunty at least). crashes all the time, doesn't open all docs
Requires the installation of more software. Looks suspicious.
This is a nice and powerful tool. Although it is not complete now and it is expected as it is not in 0.4.3 version. I hope soon all the functions would be implemented. Then this will be the best pdf editing tool as per my view
It's a nice tool. I use it in Jaunty, and I've had no crashes yet. I do have a problem getting apostrophes to render properly, though. Stil, it's 0.4 software. Until the 1 gets in there, you don't expect perfection.
It did just what I needed. Very nice!
This seems to be the only open source project that wants to be able to edit PDF files.
Thank you for this great program! It uses a lot of my CPU and gets gradually slower the more changes I make but it provides the basic PDF editing options. Great work!
Great stuff, really! Easy installation under CYGWIN, although it may sound a bit more complicated to non-CYGWIN users. I personally enjoyed the PDF to TXT conversion, which makes the text output very very close to what is shown on a page (digested a 154 pages datasheet, best way I found to prepare a transfer to XML)! Thanks so much :-)
Seems good, but after generating a 572 page pdf I find that it looks OK in PDFEdit but changes characters and has blank pages when viewed in Acrobat. So file is no no use at all for sharing with others.
I prefer it over Acrobat Pro, for really, I do. I just got tired of Acrobats limits.
A mission to install. Please simplify installation.
It's great and it's free!!!
I use it when reviewing student hand-ins.
Application would not run. missing a file.
Not complete and in beta but shows promise and is usable for simple tasks.
Very powerful tool. However, the user interface is absolutely horrible; it not even has an undo button.
Thanks - works well!!!
program would not open for me ... said it was missing cygqt-mt-3.dll ... attempted to download again but still had the same problems
Not all the files are included. There is a DLL missing. Not much use that way...
Can't thank enough. One of the most anticipated software
