• TinyFlux 1.0 final stable release out now!

  At long last the first stable TinyFlux release, version 1.0, is now available for download. TinyFlux is part of the PCFluxboxOS series. PCFluxboxOS is a remaster project of PCLinuxOS using the Fluxbox window manager. The aim is to build on the solid foundations of PCLinuxOS to create a series of memory-light operating systems with excellent hardware detection and configuration. All PCFluxboxOS releases draw applications from the main PCLinuxOS repositories. TinyFlux is the baby of bunch but packs a mean punch, not least in terms of performance! Features: A minimal desktop experience within a tiny ISO of 235MB. Ships with the legacy 2.6.18.8 kernel for ultimate compatibility with older hardware. Newer kernels, including 2.6.22.10 will be available as a Synaptic upgrade just as soon as they move out of testing status into the main PCLOS repos. Main applications: AbiWord (word processor); Netscape Navigator browser (inc Flash 9); Sylpheed (e-mail); Thunar (file manager); Audacious (XMMS/WinAmp clone); gThumb and mtPaint (image viewing/manipulation); Brasero for CD/DVD burning; Synaptic (package manager); PCLOS Control Centre; guided installer. The GlorySimplex GTK theme and the Oxygen Refit icon theme give TinyFlux a polished, modern appearance! If you were testing TinyFlux it is now recommended to perform a clean install of TinyFlux 1.0. This means formatting your / (and /home partitions). It will not be possible to upgrade any of the test releases to the final version. However, you will be able to keep TinyFlux 1.0 up to date using Synaptic for the foreseeable future.

  TinyFlux 1.0 final Removed Grafburn and replaced with Brasero. Removed XPDF and replaced with Evince document viewer. Added WMix - dockable audio mixer that sits in the slit. Added Gnome ALSA mixer GUI. Made mrxvt default terminal: - created root and user transparent themes for mrxvt Installed Audacious plugins for LastFM/Audioscrobbler support. Adjusted bootsplash and gfxboot theme for live CD: - bootsplash and gfxboot rpms created and uploaded to PCFluxboxOS repository. - drakx tools upgraded and uploaded to PCFluxboxOS repository. Upgraded mklivecd and added menu entry for mkremaster GUI. Created new Root fluxbox theme and tied wallpaper into TinyFlux theme. Added menu entries for Thunar bulk rename and Thunar preferred applications. Added menu entry for GPS Super User Mode. Created PCFluxboxOS GDM theme. Removed numerous redundant files and directories to save space. Upgraded all using Synaptic before remaster.

• MidiFlux 0.6.1b out now!

  I am pleased to announce the first test release of MidiFlux, version 0.6.1 beta (only 368 MB). This test release is built from TinyFlux 0.6b with a few improvements to the base system hence 0.6.1! One heck of a lot has been crammed into the extra 130MB so this distro should appeal to a wide variety of users, particularly those who loved TinyFlux but wanted to do more with it.   Changes since 0.5b: Fluxbox upgraded to 1.0rc3 - the latest stable version. Netscape Navigator 9 replaces Opera as it has better support for Flash 9. Abiword with .doc/.odt file support added Ted removed as it was too buggy and out of date GThumb replaces GQView and flPhoto as it does the same job as the two applications better! Galculator added. Menu entry to change GTK theme added GlorySimplex added as default GTK theme Gnome icon set replaced with Oxygen Refit theme Thunar runs as daemon on session login to enable better volume management All other apps upgraded via Synaptic. This should be the last test release before TinyFlux 1.0 is released.

I have tried a few different install sources but it is a bug in the program. Other than that it works fine! Just don't click on File|Properties otherwise you'll lose your work!
