Maybe the event text entry in the configuration file should have
the same x- and y-offset capability as the images?
I suppose that, ideally, you'd also be able to specify a specific font name,
font size, and...

The capability of 'lcal' to control colors (via the '-s' command-line option was expanded in the new 2.1.0 release. This essentially allows what the submitter of this item requested (and much more). This item is now considered closed.
