The Pawn will make it possibly for you to tell the computer exactly what you would like it to do. Fiction. No its reality now. The highly customizable slackware will be the base for Pawn.

Well i know that the development have been slow on Pawn for a big while. But its not dead. No, no. As the main developer i have been busy talking whith several MEPs in the EU parlament. The goal was ofcource to remove the Software patent law. And we did it. So today is a big victory. Had the law been acceptet then Pawn had to be reconstructed from the ground up. All because of the hevy use of XML code. Anyway the danger of the upcomming law have let me had some time to think it all over. I have decided to make some development changes to the code. The changes will make the overall process faster and less buggy (i hope). Anyway. The number one change is that it will not be built around Slackware. Slackware is too hard to maintain for the normal user and it lacks several hardware detection routins. So the next choice is Debian (Ubuntu). This gives us several adventages. Foremost the apt-get command. Second, its one of the best dists out there and it has an excelent reputation. All software that i wanted to include in the original draft is already there as deb packages. But there are still some things left to code. *The Mediaplayer (have no name for the player yet. But its small and well very buggy) *TeeTee (This is a real innovation. TeeTee is a hybrid of things. A textscroller, clock, calender and manual. In a later version it would be extendable and could include more functions.) *Brain (Yes that is the software name. Well all this little software do. Is too keep track of all your latest used documents, settings and so on.) Some more coding on this things and then it is release time. And this changes too the original draft is so big that the version number jumps to 0.7 when the iso is downloaded.. Well i got a job for you...two for be exact. Please come up whith a distro name and mabey a logo for it. That would really help. Again i say sorry for this delay. But it will end up good anyway i think. Thanks for your great support. Magnus Grander
After several delays in the development because of a move. The work starts again. Now in a new more fun phase. Next version will be a fully distribution, ready to be installed from a CD. The dist will be built around Slackware to make it so small and customizable as possible. This will make a drawback for the users on one point. It will be rather hard to a beginner to install it. But this will be corrected hopefully in the next version. Some other news is that it will contain a completly stand alone cd and music player. Also a new text reader will be included. All built around SDL. So forget all boring desktops that you have seen so far. This one will stand out among the rest. More news will follow. greetings; Magnus Grander

Do you like to code in C++. And do u feel that you can contribute to one of the most exciting projects. Well then have a look here.. Customized Webbrowser. Change the code in Firefox or other browser so no dropdown menus or icons is visible. Remove all other tools, such as the bookmarks handler. The browser should be fully controled throught the console. We also need someone that builds an PDF viewer. Whith the sam requirements as above. A software that can be build around is for exmple XPDF. Are you up to the challenge ? If you are please contact us. Magnus Grander maggrand@algonet.se
