Post Comments about the experiments here...

Free feel to comment on the experiments at http://palmorb.sourceforge.net/experiments.html

I hope to be adding more experiments soon. The reason they are experiments is because there's no simple way to enlarge PalmOrb's screen - but personally I feel it does needs a larger screen area and are trying to find a good solution.

If any of the experiments are deemed to be successful then best one is likely to be the future for PalmOrb...

On a large format screen 480x320 (T3/T5, CLie UX50, Zodiac etc.) it should be possible to fit the 4x40 screen just fine (up to 10x44 max at a rough guess).

Other things could be centering of the LCD display on the screen when the keypad etc. is not being displayed.

Also for these large format screens a 2x mode could work as well. i.e. doubling the pixels of the 2x20 screen although I could be off on the pixel count.

    Keep up the good work!

Here are my sums - they might be wrong...

    First some facts:
    - A Matrix Orbital character is 5x8 (6x9 with a gap).
    - The title bar is 15 pixels high on 160x160.

Some assumptions (I've not seen a large format screen):
    - I assume the title bar is 30 pixels high on 320x320.
    - I'm assuming that the 320x480 screens are longer (and have the same pixel-per-inch).

When the screen is rotated, what happens to the title ?

[If we use double sized characters - so they're the same size on these hi-res screens...]
If the title stays in the same place, i.e. the new side:
For a rotated 320x480 the max is: 45x20 (37x17 with a gap between characters)
If the title is rotated to the new top:
For a rotated 320x480 the max is: 48x18 (40x16 with a gap between characters)

So if the title is rotated as well then I agree that a 40x4 screen is possible; now that would be cool!
A double sized 20x2 screen would also look good.

BTW, Is there a standard way of telling it to rotate the screen (a shortcut or button?)
