Packer is a program that automatically generates high-quality packages from the input of the user. Unlike similar programs, the packages that packer makes are of a similar quality to those that are hand-crafted, as packer packages include dependencies and categories. Currently, packer can generate RPMs (for either SuSE, Mandriva, or Redhat/Fedora), Debian packages, Slackware packages, and Autopackage distribution-independent installers. Version 0.1.5 is the first non-beta release. With it, packer is no longer dependent on the search function of packages.debian.org, which is currently down. This version also introduces miscellaneous minor bug-fixes. Packer is available in a variety of package formats from the following URL: http://packer.sourceforge.net/dl.html The packer homepage: http://packer.sourceforge.net
