    For the time, I cannot find an archiver with better compression under Linux. XZ with the LZMA2 algorithm does a great job, especially as a replacement for bzip2 with tar-archives, but 7za is still more efficiant. Being accustomed to the command-line, I do not have much use for a GUI but a better integration with xarchiver would possibly be needed to accustom more users to the newer compression programs. The same applies by the way for xz, as tared xz-archives (tar -xJf) tend to crash xarchiver on my machine...
