Oziac is an experiment to describe an existing fantasy world (the land of OZ created by L. Frank Baum) and implement it as a virtual world. Originally we will comment the books with CycL, and then use the CycL as input to a programmable VR system.

As of the current date, 31-May-2003, there are only a few of the Famous Forty canonical OZ books released without copyright. This release includes all the files that are known not to have any copyright restrictions as of the current date. The file names include the sequence number of the book in the series. All fourteen of the original L. Frank Baum books are in this release, as are two of the Ruth Plumly Thompson books that didn't have a renewed copyright in the vagaries of US copyright law. These files are from various sources, and have not been pre-processed to have one sentence per line. Plans were made for working on a program to take these files and do this, but that program is not complete yet. Still a rather alpha release, but at least all the books are collected here. Work is continuing to get a version of UseMod Wiki that would be suitable for the annotation task of writing CycL for each line of the books, and modifying a Virtual Reality system to accept CycL as its input, but progress on this project is not as fast as we would like.
Initial Release - still very alpha
