A project for controlling Centurion CD storage devices and maybe Disc-Stakka devices under Linux.
all required functionality available and work a treat
Thank you.
I have packaged up version 0.4 of optiocd. The major change is the way the centurion.py module notifies the owner application that new units have been detected. The module has to detect all units when it first starts. If (like me) you start optiocd automatically when gnome starts, then you probably got some minor errors reported when the program was, for example, trying to move the carousel on start up. This has been fixed, and I have been using the program for a few days without any problems. Installing version 0.4 should automatically replace version 0.3 without damaging your cd catalog data, but it is probably still a good idea to back up your cd catalog data with the following command:
cp ~/.century_cd_data century_cd_data_backup
This will make sure that you have another copy should your existing data be overwritten by setup.
Fixed the way the software "logs in" centurion units to the central unit collection. This should stop spurious communication errors on startup.
Changed USB timing to allow for large stacks of units (stack of 3 units tested to work ok, please let me know if you have problems with a larger stack and can help debug the problem.) Added "Cancel" button to the "Verify All Empty Slots" Function. Fixed old behavior where optiocd would exit on some errors to synchronize the database. This behavior is no longer needed as the database is now synced immediately after every change.
I would like to have a "pretty" web page for this project, but I have about as much artistic ability as a cane toad holding a crayon, so if anyone can help me out, please drop me a mail.
Version 0.3 of optiocd is available on the download page, this release should be suitable for end users, and will be re-released as version 1.0 after sufficient testing from users to verify that all the bugs are squashed.
