I still use VS2003 (V7.1), but afaik it works with higher versions too. I tried it on 2008 and it converted successfully.
So I think you can use any version. You might have to adjust some command line parameters here and there, since MS kicked some of them off the newer compilers. But except for some warnings it should build.
If you use the new .sln from the CVS repository, have a look...

I'm with you, but the biggest problem openTZT has with all those fancy features I would like to implement, you can't configure them.
My plan is, after we released the cleaned-up version, to implement a configuration panel, there we can place all the things everyone wants.
Imagine a world where you can set the frequency and level threshold in an actual graphical spectrum analyzer, and...

Yeah i use it occasionally, pretty sure some of the ported FreeFrame effects access the wave data.
Although having re-read your post i see you mentioned internal effects.

I'm gonna have to say i prefer plexus' recommendation.
Btw, good work at getting some TzT dev going again.
I am going to be unemployed in about 2 weeks, and after some travelling i should have plenty of spare time to help/assist on TzT related matters. ( gotta keep my coding skills up to scratch somehow)

Ok, pad function is removed. Besides, since openTZT supports MIDI you can control virtually everthing with any type of MIDI controller.

I'm not sure about this Esotic and I had looked into updating the flash support buy we were going to have to pay for something I think. I have to say we MUST have flash support and live text (done via flash) I'd rather be stuck on QT 6.5 to keep it rather than loose flash and get newer QT support (I never use Quicktimes myself)

Hmmmm I'm not to phased how you want to do it, I would say either do what you suggested OR stick with methods 1, 2, and move mode 4 to "Crtl+Space" so it keeps all methods switching PLAY & EDIT mode.
