OpenMapper

I am trying to get OpenMapper running on my SlackWare 10 box and I am having real difficulties.

I have installed wxPython 2.4.2.4 and wxGTK 2.4.2 (wxWindows) as well as the pysnmp package (3.3.5 was the closest I could find) and when I execute OpenMapper, I get the splash screen but it fails to load giving me a :
TypeError: not all arguments converted during string formatting

any help would be appreciated. I have gotten kinda-sorta comfortable using linux but I am still learning.
