OpenEOIR is a small simulation that can drive a CIGI compliant IG to do Lelectro Optic and Infra Red (EOIR) sensor simulation. It is based on the OpenEaagles framework (HOST) and the MultiPurposeViewer (IG) and is totally open source. We have just uploaded the Beta release of the project, though the development of the beta prototype has been done for a little while now (since February). In the future we hope to develop the prototype some more in order to provide a more complete and flexible optic sensor simulation. The project also comes with a gathering of 3DEntites and TerrainDB which are from other related OSS projects. If you are interested in optical sensor simulation for use in operator training, give this project a try and send us some feedback!
