Consent Management in Openemr

    Hi,

    Here goes my understanding based on my further study.

    As part of HIPAA privacy rule, the patient need to sign the HIPAA Consent and Authorization forms.

    In OpenEMR, already there is a field called "HIPAA Notice Received" (hipaa_notice in database). This can hold values like "YES", "NO" & "Unassigned".

    Probably, we can scan the signed forms and they can be stored in the documents section. But not sure, whether CCHIT requires more than that since the criteria is mentioned as "capability to electronically record individual consumers' consents and authorizations".
