Version 2009-01-13 of Open82, the freely-licenced replacement firmware for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, has been released. This release marks the merging of the OpenZXRom and Open82 projects, taking the OpenZXRom codebase as a starting point and incorporating the Open82 project's progress towards a full Sinclair Basic interpreter, particularly in securing permission to redistribute code from the ZX81 and SAM Coupe ROMs under the GPL. This release adds support for the complete set of numerical functions and calculator operations from the ZX81 ROM, including trigonometric functions. Further material from the existing Open82 codebase will be merged back in future releases. In addition, brand new routines for the beeper and circle plotting have been provided by Jan Bobrowski and Rui Tunes.
This release marks the merging of the OpenZXRom and Open82 projects. Changelog from the previous release of OpenZXRom (2008-01-07): - Calculator routines from the ZX81 ROM are incorporated. All pure numeric calculator operations and functions are now supported - Low-level beeper routine ('beeper') - Filled historical free space above 0x386e with 0xff, for programs which use this as a vector table - CIRCLE command implemented ('cmd_circle' / 'circle') - Default font is now zx81_ace.asm, a hybrid of the ZX81 and Jupiter Ace system fonts
