The aim of this project is to develop an extensible framework for building "virtual worlds", and allowing large numbers of people to explore them. Examples would be a MUD, or even a virtualization of your own home.

In release 0.1.1 chat is now fully functional and new capabilities are being added and released very often. JDK version 1.4 beta 3 is required to run the client and server as it uses the NIO capabilities. Simply unjar the download file and modify the runom and runclient scripts in the "bin" directory to work in your local environment. Try out runskinned to use the SkinLF capabilities newly added in this version.
This is the initial release of the project which supports single channel chat with dynamic updating of the user list. This is written using the jdk 1.4 beta 3, and uses new functionality in 1.4 so that version needs to be used to run the client as well. Look for more updates in the future and a LOT of upcoming functionality.
A new forum has been started for discussions about the initial (and future) functionalities available in The Arena service of OM. I have posted the set I am currently working on, and any comments or suggestions are very welcome.
