The program answers a genuine need. I have two laptop computers, and although they both have a function ("Fn") key, I have never been able to discover a way to access some kind of hidden numeric keypad. And, believe me, I have tried. I have read all sorts of articles on the subject on the internet, but they were not helpful for my particular problem. My need for the program is that I use letters and symbols that I access from the numeric keypad (for example, the section symbol § is decimal 0167). The Numpad program works, and it will now be on my laptop computers. However, when I tried it the first time, yesterday, I could not get it to work, and I uninstalled it. The program does not come with any instructions, or at least I could not find any. By right-clicking on the tray icon I was able to find a few options for setting up the program, but nothing else. Anyway, after a second try, today, I was able to figure out how to use the program. Here are the key things: 1. After you open the Numpad program, the program takes away the focus from the document that you were working on. You have to put the focus back into the document where you want to insert a symbol. So click at that spot in your document. 2. Now you can use Numpad. For example, to insert the section symbol, do this: 3. Click ALT. 4. Then click 0,1,6,7. You will not see these numbers appear anywhere. 5. Now click ALT again. The section symbol should appear. I gave the program only three stars because it was not intuitive and did not come with instructions.
