There may be a deature request on the tracker indeed. Using IdeaTorrent allows voting on ideas, which he tracker doesn't. So it could be a good idea that you post this request there.

Currently, for votes to persist, you have to open the idea in a new browser window, then vote by opening the arrow in a different tab or window. This is an SF issue.
