0.8- Removed Netcat support (no longer needed) - Added SOCK_STREAM client to do banner grabbing and Enumeration - Removed Queso OS Detection (nmap is more reliable and upto-date) - Basic service enumeration code added - More Data catches and colorized output fixes - Added Progress bar - disabled logging feature until 1.0 beta (need to re-design the GUI to fit it in) - Combined traceroute and ICMP Discovery scan types - Began work on Firewall ruleset detection code
Alpha 1 released today, it's stable enough to be functionable now, and the scan options have all been enabled. It is still limited to only scanning a single host at a time and there are many more options yet to be added, but this should give you an idea of what nift aims to accomplish. A stable 1.0 release will be comming shortly (withen the next few weeks) with many unique "smart" scanning options not seen in other scanners
0.7- Indivigual option checking now avaliable - Permanently fixed the start/abort issues - Re-Enabled option locking - added colorized output (easier to read the important info) - added logging feature (may need work) - all scan options now work without segment faulting - removed spinbutton method of selecting scan intensity - added Nmap OS detection thru UDP protocals
This is the PreAlpha release, It's heavily dependant on other programs to do it's dirty work at this stage of development and has a long way to go before it atains it's goal as being one of Top footprinting scanner out. Instead of specalizing in only one area or technique, Nift will attempt to make use of Every method possible, to give you a Complete view of your system as it appears from the outside world. This will not be your standard network auditing program either, as it will incorperate many footprinting tests and options not seen in the average scanner
0.6 - Re-designed the GUI untill more options and coded into the scanner - added ICMP queries test - added banner grabbing 0.5 - made a temp scan call bug fix - traceroute and Queso OS detection working 0.4 - added option locking (cant change in middle of scan unless you abort) - got nmap portscan working (basicailly used source from nmapfe) 0.3 - merged callbacks.c and main.c - simplified interface.c (removed un-nessesary verify_option function calls) - Replaced combo box with a spin button (Intensity level) - Finished option checking 0.2 - GUI Tweaks - removed the support.c and support.h files - fixed toggle buttons - Began work on a new scan engine (A level defined engine instead of component based, components are now grouped into different security levels, the higher the level, the more information gathered 0.1 - Finished the GUI (first version)
