The first implementation I started in Java, using storage on Mysql. I have not finished this implementation yet, as I thought it was unnecessarily cludgeware. I've gone back to basics, and written the software in C, storing data in text files. The reason is speed and efficiency (I've been reading Art of Unix programming). It also means you could run it on a primitive PDA. Current status of the C-file release (C language, file storage): Pre-alpha. Currently an XML tree is not even being stored by direct calls, (names in dictionaries are), but XML tree is close. Then I'm going to write a thin XML parser. (I'm not happy with the size of even expat). I want to be able to run this on X86 minix!
