I received lots of emails with all the same question: "What happened to myLANsite? Is the project down?" No - It is definitely not! It is just the unlikely case, that the webserver broke down and i really did not have the chance and the time to set up the website again (and all data is lost, anyway). You may have noticed, that I meanwhile released a new version, myLANsite 1.6b. This is now finally the first Beta release which took myLANsite out of its Alpha stage. Quite a few lanparties (especially in germany) are using myLANsite. But I am not very happy with the current stage of my project. Maybe you remember a newspost on mylansite.org where I wrote about rewriting myLANsite for the next version. There is already a first (_very_ first) draft version of mylansite2 available here at sf.net. But I saw, that this has no point. Why should I rewrite things, that already exists? There are so many very good OpenSource Content Management Systems which take half the workload off me. So I decided to rewrite myLANsite. But it will not be a standalone CMS like it was before. myLANsite will be a component (well, a set of components and modules) for the very famous OpenSource CMS Mambo (http://www.mamboserver.com/). It provides a very stable backend and there are already lots of modules available (poll, userlogin, board, news, ...). So I can concentrate on brining you the best (and only) lanparty modules for it. I would be pleased if some of you took some time to read my post in the Mambo forums (http://forum.mamboserver.com/showthread.php?t=28059) and reply with their comments and possible concerns about this step. Would you still be using myLANsite if it is a component for Mambo? I think, this helps myLANsite a lot being more famous in the future. You wonder, how you benefit from this step? Well, there are a few things: -myLANsite will be 100% multilanguage capable -The code will be _lots_ more stable and have less bugs -It will be surrounded by the already existing, very huge community of mambo -You can use all of the hundreds of modules and components already available for mambo (want an onlineshop? easy! A guestbook? No prob! Gallery? Choose from 5 already available!) -myLANsite will be fully documented in several languages -myLANsite uses the very powerful template engine of Mambo -myLANsite can be extended with your own modules. So, in future, there will be no more releases of myLANsite version 1. I surely will release bugfixes, but there are no know bugs at the moment enyway (at least, nobody did send me some)
