Musico version 2.1 installation program released, September 2006 MusIco is a relational database and Windows interface for cataloguing Musical Iconography. It can be used by individuals, Libraries, Museums, Educational Institutions, etc. Our goal is to develop a complete musical iconography database in a unified, multi-language format that would make the sharing of data possible in an international context. We would eventually like to extend our work to the internet, with an international database based on MusIco that can be used as a tool for reference and research in the field of musical iconography. All of the written text in MusIco is in Unicode format, and both the software and the database can be tailored to use with any language. At present, the languages available are English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and Greek. Included in this release is a Language setup program which allows the user to edit text used in the software itself. Nevertheless, implementation of a number of these languages is still incomplete, and we welcome help. The MusIco source code, written with Borland's Delphi 7 compiler, is also available for download at Sourceforge or through the CVS repository. Contact Paul Beier for information: beier@musico.it
