  • Muse has moved!

Muse has moved its file release and source code versioning to Berlios. The main reason for moving is because Berlios supports Subversion, not just CVS. Take a look at http://developer.berlios.de/projects/muse.

  • Followup: RE: File Transfer

Jabber does not provide a particular spec for doing in-band file transfers. However, they did create a spec for what they call Out-Of-Band (OOB) transfers. How this essentially works is that one client sends an OOB X Message out to the other client containing some sort of URI for the other client to use. The other client will then use that URI to download the file. By the jabber specs, the...

  • File Transfer

I have recently embarked on a SWING Jabber Client and am almost done with all the essential feature sets except for the file transfer portion. I must say I don't even know how to begin with this one. How does file transfer occur ? Does MUSE's API cater for this or do I have to do my own FTP as specified by the Jabber Protocol ? Many thanks for the help.

  • Followup: RE: GUI: todo's and todon'ts

Hmm. I'd say the default should be "chats come through as chats, messages come through as messages, and replies to either go as whatever the original message was." Admittedly even ICQ has thread viewing. I'd say default double-clicking on a user to chat mode, and definitely allow an option to change it. Minimise to tray is an evil thing to have to code into Java.

  • Muse 0.8a1 Released

Muse is an all-purpose communications API. It currently support Gnutella and Jabber. Napster has just been deprecated and removed. Gnutella went through an entire overhaul to be more extensible, stable, and efficient. There are so many features added to this release that the changelog should be read instead. Minor feature enhancements and fixes to the Jabber modules.
