Motion monitors the video signal from one or more cameras (video4linux interface) and is able to detect if a significant part of the picture has changed. Features: interval snapshots, live streaming webcam, mpeg generation, database interface, OSD etc.

I have been using Motion for about a year now for my home security cameras. Works great. I review the footage by encoding the .jpg's to video with Mencoder. Watching a days events only takes about ten minutes or so of my valuable time. I stopped by today to grab the latest version and compile it then submit to my favorite distro so others may enjoy. Thanks Much. Awesomeness.

very good in terms of all the features I wanted, in the ways I wanted it to be done. only drawback is lack of intuitive gui configure tool.

Zoneminder didnt work after hours. motion worked after minutes. I like it. It works well and is simple KISSes are good.
