  • Montag WS-I Basic Profile Compliance

This is the first great goal : Montag web services are officially compliant to the WS-I Basic Profile 1.1 recommendations. It took me an hard work to code and test services WSDLs and all the related stuff in order to achieve this ... but it was very worthwhile and now I feel happy for this result. Moreover, for this piece of good work I must again thank Alex Saloustros for his precious .Net testing, and David Law for his testings about WS-I Basic Profile compliance. Congratulations, boys!

  • Montag 0.8 Beta r16 released!

Montag is a SOAP Web Services system for interacting with Native XML Databases. We are working, for the next version, on a lot of new features. Meanwhile, the first Montag 0.8 development snapshot has been released. These are the new, major, features: * New ListService service. * New XQueryService service (old QueryService service renamed in XPathService). * New XML Schema definition for the result-set document. * Document/literal style adoption, following the WS-I Basic Profile recommendations. * Update to Axis 1.2.1. Have a nice test!

  • Present and future of Montag

Hello all, there are great news in the present and future of Montag. First of all, I've worked hard on converting Montag web services in document/literal style, trying to follow the WS-I Basic Profile recommendations and achieve a good degree of interoperability with .NET; now, everything looks ok and Montag services are more standard and more interoperable. Moreover, looking towards the next 0.8 version, I'm going to develop a new authentication/authorization system for Montag remote mode. These are, in a few words, the major features: 1) New AuthenticationService, working as a single entry point for remote services. 2) New authorization system, defining a set of Montag users, independent from database users, with configurable permissions for accessing NXD collections and Montag services. 3) Adoption of the WS-Security UserName Token Profile (that should be well supported at least in both Java and .NET) for the user name and password exchange. I'd like to know YOUR opinion about these changes, and every idea or suggestion. Finally, I'd like to thank Alex Saloustros, who made a very good job testing Montag interoperability with .Net, and who will join the Montag project as a developer ... welcome Alex! This is the present. This is the future. This is Montag. Sergio B.

  • Montag version 0.7 released

Montag is a Java Web Services based system for interacting with Native XML Databases providing a Java implementation of the XML:DB API. It's a middleware which permits heterogeneous SOAP-enabled clients, written for different platforms and languages, to operate over Native XML Databases, through the exposition of a configurable set of SOAP Web Services. Montag version 0.7 comes with a new, clearer and simpler, configuration process. Take a look at: http://montag.sourceforge.net/docs/configuration.html Thanks to Montag Web Services, every client will be able to: - Create and remove collections of XML documents. - Add XML documents to the database. - Remove XML documents from the database. - Retrieve XML documents from the database. - Query a single document or a collection of documents. - Modify a single document or a collection of documents without retrieving them, through the XUpdate language. For more general information, see: http://montag.sourceforge.net/ You can find the 0.7 release here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=118223&package_id=128706&release_id=294367
