MonitorX is an alternative to Apple's OS X Server Monitor. It keeps historical data of hardware failures through a mysql database, allowing easy browsing through it's php web interface. The data is dumped into the mysql database through a python script.

I've committed the python and php modules to cvs. It'll be some time before we have a stable release ready. Hopefully by the time I start back at school I will be able to release this. Right now it's "Sorta Working" but not quite. I've decided that the best way to handle permissions is through LDAP. You can add a group to your ldap server and assign users to that group. No special permissions need to be applied to the user accounts. Once a release is completed I may have LDAP as a configurable option for non LDAP users. If anyone has any suggestions or would like to help please let me know and I'll add you to the project.
