Sure, it also works without the magic.ini, but then it stores all settings in the local registry on the PC in which the USB stick is plugged in.
But that is not the problem - magic.ini works fine.
The point is that the *.magic files that store the mailbox settings contain absolute paths. So it will only run from the same path from which you have saved your *.magic file.
If you always...

Mine works fine on a USB stick without the magic.ini file. I have magic.ini in an old copy of MMM, but my current copy doesn't even contain that file. I tried changing the filename to backupmagic.ini, just to see if current MMM would fail without it in the old location, but had no effect. Maybe I'm missing something as I'm no programmer...

I just downloaded MMM and was very happy that I finally brought it to NOT store its settings in the registry but use the "magic.ini" once it is present. Then I created all my mailboxes and saved a file I called "default.magic".
Now I wanted to copy the whole folder to my USB stick and start it from there - but whoops! "default.magic" contains an invalid path...

Yes, or 'save as...' "Untitled.magic" and that's the one that it will open by default (if you don't supply a file name as you show above). You may have upgraded and overwrote your Untitled.magic file. Or as I've done, made changes and then didn't save them back to that file.

Yes, this is a great tool, and I'm glad it's still around. I've used it since its earlier days as well, and still use it now. Nothing better I've found so far.

Been using MM3 many years now. This morning The delete spam button does nothing. A right click on an item and quick delete works.
My firewall shows no actions when the delete button is clicked but does show action when quick delete is used.
I have just replaced magic.exe with a new downloaded copy, problem still exists.
Anyone else seeing this problem?
I wonder if it will be fixed?.
