What's happening?

  • What does analysis.py do?

Ok, I've installed analysis.py, entered in the the cron, and I guess it's working but doing what? I don't see any differences in the software whatsoever. Question 2: does anyone ever visit this board? I haven't had any responses to any post, or any replies via direct emails to the author. What gives?.

  • Followup: RE: Email Not functioning

This problem has been partially solved. I have not gotten the email notification of moves working. Did not realize it required the cron file. But, when notifications are received, the graphic images of the pieces are not being sent. I don't know why and would appreciate any suggestions.

  • Followup: RE: Move Notification emails

Dan, I was wondering if you ever got this figured out. I am having the exact same problem and like you have put up a post, but so far no one has responded. I have also emailed the author, but he has not replied to my email or responded either. As a result some games are not being played that have started because I think the other players are thinking there are no moved being made. I really...

  • Followup: RE: Chess Engine Problems

Problem partially solved. The folks at my web hosting company were nice enough to install both engines. We finally got GnuChess working. But they could not get Phalanx working. They tried but said it was mainly because they could not find server installation instructions anywhere on the net. If anyone knows where they can be found that would be great.

  • Followup: RE: How to cancel a computer game once started?

Problem Solved. I figured out how to edit the MySQL database to remove unwanted games. Thanks anyway. Actually, the ability for an administrator to do that in an admin area would be perfect.

  • Email Not functioning

After the installation was completed I made a first move against gnuchess to see what would happen. gnuchess did not respond, but I did receive an email saying that I had made a first move. That was good. But, after that no other emails have been sent to myself or anyone else when moves are made. Nothing really changed that should have caused a problem. Help is appreciated.

  • How to cancel a computer game once started?

In the process of trying to get the chess engines to work (they haven't been) I have started a few games. Now these games, which are not working, are showing up in my list of games being played. But I can't figure out how to remove them. I went into the MySQL database and attempted to delete them manually, but the database won't allow me to. Am I stuck with them there for life?.

  • Using the analyze.py script

I have uploaded analyze.py to the installation directory of the chess program. I have created a Crontab file (never done one before and really don't have a clue whether it is going to work) and uploaded it. The install directions say "You can customize the first lines to match with your system." What first lines? Existing lines, or do I need to add lines? If so, what lines?...

  • Chess Engine Problems

My web hosting company has installed both gnuchess and phalanx on my web server. However, when I make a move against gnuchess nothing happens. It just doesn't respond, but there are no error messages. When I attempt to use phalanx I get the following error: Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'No move in robot response' in...
