I have felt no need or desire to install anything but the latest FrontPage server extensions, starting with 2000 and now 2002. As I read around about people providing sites with FP extensions and the Unix ports, I still see a lot of 2000 and 98 extensions out there.
I thought a good discussion on why you would want to run FP 98 or 2000 extensions when you can install the 2002 extensions.
Is it a technical issue? Is a FP98 client unable to publish to a server running the 2002 extensions?
Is it a licensing issue? I don't remember of you have to own a copy of the software to install the server extensions. That would be a silly requirement. The sensible thing would be for MS to get every ISP to provide the latest version of the server extensions so all the customers buy FrontPage.
