Could be a postscript bounding box problem. Open the eps figure with GSview and check the bounding box (if bounding box check is not enabled, choose "Options" and then "Show bounding box"). If you do not see a dashed box tight around your figure, you need to change the bounding box. Choose "File" in GSview and then "PS to EPS". You must save the file under a different name. Convert the graphics with
epstopdf att.eps
to att.pdf and then with gsview -> convert ->epswrite back to eps.

I cannot install MikTex 2.8 in my Windows XP SP3 Professional. I have tried the net install and the basic package download. The installation always fails with an error like this (from the log file of the installation program):

I have installed Miktex 2.8. I used to set "Ask me first" option to install new packages on-the-fly with TeXniccenter. Due to the incompatibility issue I can not anymore. As addendum, because my previous reply doesn't solve your problem, the following will. There is one rule in LaTeX: "run, run, run again."
In this case, run latex once, then run the makeindex command to turn the gathered glossary data into tex source, and then run latex again:
> latex yoursource.tex
> makeindex -s yoursource.ist -t yoursource.glg -o yoursource.gls yoursource.glo.

Memoir defines many macros that glossaries also defines (in fact, it's based on glossaries.sty). You will have conflicts for any version of glossaries prior to v1.17.

Clickin on the downloaded Net Installer (setup-2.8.3553.exe) there occure the following error:
"C:\setup-2.8.3553.exe ist keine zulässige Win32-Anwendung."

Clicking on the downloaded basic MikTeX 2.8 file the following error occure:
