Metascore is the system which will run metagovernment.org and any number of other community governance systems. It is a versionated policy-generation and discussion system combined with a recursive scoring system for ranking content and perhaps users.

Recently a prototype of Metascore, the software for community governance, was launched at http://prototype.metascore.org The prototype is still at the alpha stage of development, so do not expect anything spectacular. Clearly we still need an interface developer(s). The goal of Metascore is to be capable of acting as the sole mechanism of governance of any community. It is intended to act as a replacement for representative democracy. For more information, see the Metagovernment home page: http://www.metagovernment.org/ For more information on the prototype, see: http://www.metagovernment.org/wiki/PrototypeA Also, a video introduction is here: http://vimeo.com/3143664 To join the project, or to help out in any way, please see the Participate page on the Metagovernment project wiki: http://www.metagovernment.org/wiki/Participate
As soon as we have a somewhat functional version of Metascore, we hope to try out our dog food and make it the engine of the metagovernment.org website. However, due to chicken-and-egg issues, it was necessary to open a wiki as a precursor method to maximize participation. Please visit http://www.metagovernment.org/wiki and chip in.
The Metagovernment Startup Committee will be hosting a public meeting for collaboration on the startup process of both the Metagovernment and Metascore projects. The meeting is open to the public, who may find it on #metascore on irc.freenode.net. Complete details are available on the project wiki: http://www.metagovernment.org/wiki/Startup/Meetings/1
The startup committee for Metascore is now active. In our first week of formal organization, we have made tremendous progress in scoping the project. We have taken a much broader view of governance than our initial vision, and will be working on building a tool that can manage the governance of any community of any size: from a three-person club to a township park authority to a global community, and everything in between. We are in no rush to start coding, but do expect that we will start planning out the project map in the very near future. Anyone willing to contribute significant amounts of time and effort to this early stage of development should write to source@metascore.org
