• NumberFiles 0.7 file released: NumberFiles-v0.7-source.zip

  0.7 * Now Automatically looks up the version. * Added new option 'rd', will number the files with an 8 digits random number. * Added new variable _random_, just to complete the random theme. * Added new option 'bt', the renmaing will be done by a batch file. * Added new option 'bc', a undo batch file will be generated. * Now the year will be printed with 4 digits instead of only 2. 0.6 * Major overhaul to the parameters: ** Now you can specify the working directory. ** The default option now is to use the file original name. ** fn will give the NewName, anywhere and not only at the end. ** Numbering will start from 1 instead of 0. ** Removed spaces from the default number mask. ** Added new option 'help', NumberFiles will also respond to '?' and '/?' ** Added new option 'nn', to number only without a file name. * In case of error NumberFiles will try to retrieve the error message from windows. * Illegal characters in the mask will also be replaced. * If the mask does not include the counter (num) then the default mask will be used. * Fixed a bug, now only the first instance of 'num' will be replaced with the mask. * Fixed a bug, files without an extension will be correctly renamed. * Added some commentary to the source.

• NumberFiles 0.7 is out, plus a GUI

  Now, with version 0.7, NumberFiles is functioning like a real program, no more silly stuff! Now you can specify the directory, the arguments will be checked, you can ask for help, undo the renaming, etc. I got tired with opening and closing Batch files so I whipped up a quick GUI, it doesnt check the arguments nor asks for confirmation, when I get it to do that I will run NumberFiles silently (which is why I put the silent option in the first place.). The big breakthrough is automatic version display, in NF_GUI the version of NumberFiles is also checked (because they are released separately), so bug reporting will be much easier (NF_GUI doesnt work with versions less than 0.6). The only planned feature that I havent tackled is the renaming from a list feature, which I think will need a complete re-design to achieve efficiently (a quick & dirty implementation could be done!), but I see no point to it, neither do I see a point to changing the extension to something else, my extension option as it stands is very much useless, upgrading it to input extension is fairly easy, but I see no point to it. But I have implemented some great features for 0.7, like batch file generation to do the renaming and provide a way to undo the action!
