I think that Magnet URI's are an exceptional idea, the most productive thing that we could do is evangelize their use amongst P2P app creators and website creators. A great idea would be a browser plugin that automatically recognizes Magnet links, downloads the content, and makes it available again to the browser. This way, website producers could host the "heavy" content items such as large images and video's on P2P networks, and then just tell their users to download a plugin that handles the links. Maybe the plugin would work with integrate with a backend that searches multiple networks like MLDonkey. This would separate the approaches to content searching (Gnutella, BitTorrent, Direct Connect, etc.) from the use of URI links. Think about how amazing it would be if Konqueror and Mozilla had default plugins that would use accept Magnet tags and shared the content that they cache. People could then use their existing browsers with FLASH, Windows Media Player, QuickTime, etc. to play large video's without the user having to download, wait, then go into a separate application and play the media... Tell me your thoughts.
