Liferea (Linux Feed Reader) is a GTK desktop news aggregator for online news feeds and weblogs. The project focus is on simplicity and easy installation.
It doesn't work with a proxy with authentication, even though the option is there. I reported the bug but it seems that the developper doesn't care much.
Its real Cool
it is so good ,but i do not want to read the feeds about ubuntu or linux
Liferea, I have no idea why there is support for Google Reader or Bloglines. For others, perhaps it makes sense but in my personal case, I'm trying to decentralize my own information. Bring back to the desktop a few things like the Feed or Email is important. I think you should develop a synchronization tool, desktop to desktop, a kind of backup to move into my usb. Remember to include the settings to not take back all the feed that you already read. I also add these recommendations. I use Fedora, version 12 now. I would not confuse the system by installing something not listed in Add/Remove Software. Fedora has the extraordinary ability to maintain a previous version of the program to go back in case something goes wrong. Moreover, the system alerts you when a new version of the program. Liferea 1.6.0-1, now I have installed, when you can add the new version in Fedora so we can use it. Search by Date, Search Folder Properties does not have a search by date. For example, I add a new feed but they come as 100 items, delete all before December 15, is possible only and only if you have the time to delete one by one. Sort by date, why not add on "preferences", the ability to sort all feed by date, the first and the last, and the last and first. If I have over 100 feed I have to go one by one to sort them by date. Finally, special thanks to all the team and support in Liferea. This is an excellent product that meets the need to be informed, right from your desktop.
I had not tried Liferea for almost two years. It has come a LONG way. Google Reader sync, reading items in folder when selected, the browser, all great work and improvements. Thank you!
