Launchy

Hi. After Cmd, I thought it would be a good idea to expand Calcy's capabilities. Has I knew Google as a great calculator with conversion abilities and a little response time (10ms on my computer) I developed a plug-in that can be used to calculate/convert using Google's calculator. Just write your expression, like '3*log(5)+cos(9)' or '10 pounds in dollars', followed by a question mark '?'. Then it will download the answer and show it on the right pane.

not working for me
i downloaded the dll and put it in the plugins folder as usual
but launchy (ver 1.25) is not detecting it

Ops, I haven't updated Launchy and still use 1.0.0 :/

I'll get a new copy and have a look at it ASAP.

It isn't working for me. I downloaded the dll an put it in the plugin folder. Other plugins have worked. I don't know what's the problem. I use the actual version 1.25. Do I need some special libraries? Do you have an Idea?

Sorry people, I have three exams next week so I can't develop much right now. I'll definitely update it ASAP, but that can be two weeks from here. When I change it I'll update the zip and include the source.

Yeah, I've been busy, but I managed to update this plugin to version 1.25. I 'remade' it from scratch, but it doesn't add any new feature, I like the KISS principle :P

I think I've found a little bug: If you end the argument with adding a number(doesn't seem to be just integers. If I end with +5 or +5.5, it breaks, but adding, for example, +log(5) works.

On a side-note: when I type "5+(5/1)?" I get 25 for an answer.

Oh, I found it: the symbol '+' is interpreted as a space in the google search. I've corrected it.

I think I've also found a little bug. Google uses a space as a thousands separator and when Google Calc reads it, it cuts the number off at the space so for example if I put "kg to g" the result is just 1 instead of 1000grams. So any conversion that goes into thousands and beyond it only displays the digits before the space.

Yep, the space bug is a pretty big one. For example,

"15 miles in feet?" returns "79" -- just a few thousand short. :-) It should return 79,200 (or 79 200, as google puts it).

May I suggest uploading this to http://www.hostfile.org?
It's completely free and will stay where you want it for months on end.

unfortunately this doesn't work for me. the plugin is detected (although the discription next to it says that it does nothing) but as soon as i type something it doesn't seem to be handled by google calc. i also tried it with original calcy on, which made original calcy handle everything and no extra conversions were possible.

do you have any idea what's wrong?

Is it possible to trigger the submission to gcalc with something other than Enter/Return? When launchy is set to autohide when losing focus, it automatically hides when hitting return. The calculation result is returned and displayed, but launchy must be re-displayed with the hotkey.

When I click on the link, it takes me to a plain light blue screen with "Box.Net--No shared files available"
